Express Entry is changing.
Prepare your profile.
IRCC has announced a new Labour Market Integration factor in the Comprehensive Ranking System, effective 3 November 2026. This is a scoring update—not a promise of a draw or an invitation.
What changes in the points system?
The factor considers eligible Canadian work experience or a qualifying high-wage job offer. Where both apply, the higher option is used rather than adding both together. The maximum is 150 points without an accompanying spouse, or 140 with one.
What counts as a high-wage job offer?
The new tiers use the occupation’s median wage relative to the overall median—not simply the individual salary offered. IRCC is also removing the LMIA requirement for qualifying offers for these Express Entry purposes, subject to the updated conditions. This does not remove every work-permit requirement.
What should existing candidates do?
Review your profile and job-offer information for accuracy. IRCC says recalculation can take up to two weeks and invitation rounds will pause while it is completed. Additional points do not guarantee an invitation.
